About me

Hi! I'm Lauren, a writer, editor, traveler, and creative.

Storytelling has always been at the center of my work, whether it's a magazine feature about road-tripping Tasmania or a company blog post on how programmatic advertising helped a burgeoning creator business.

I help brands overcome creative and logistical blocks to tell more meaningful stories and connect with their audiences. Over the last twenty years I've worked in international education, travel, logistics, emergency services, and creator media. I've written for publications including The Boston Globe and Business Jet Traveler, contributed to award-winning campaigns, interviewed the world's biggest online creators, developed live event programming, and helped launch a company-wide rebrand.

I especially love finding the story in an unpolished draft, taking an interview transcript, an executive's stream-of-consciousness brain dump, or a very rough draft and turning it into a sparkling piece of content that finds its audience. That starts with asking the right questions, paying attention to the details, and finding the compelling emotional hook in each piece.

When I'm interviewing small business owners, shaping brand stories, editing articles, or crafting a thought leadership post, my goal is always to create real content for real people, not cut corners to present something that sounds like an LLM wrote it.

My perspective has been shaped by my experiences working and living abroad. I served coffee in Ireland, picked strawberries in Australia, recruited for clinical trials in Christchurch, taught English in Korea, and got a master's degree in travel writing in London. You can read more about those formative adventures in my travel blog, Lateral Movements.

My early career path has made all the difference in who I am personally and professionally. I'm observant and quick to adjust, which means I'll nail your brand voice. New-country logistics made me detail-oriented, so I won't misspell your most important client's name in an email. And seeing the wide world has taught me to think differently, so I'll bring fresh eyes to stagnant projects.

My work as an ASL interpreter has reinforced how critical it is to convey meaning accurately and with empathy. It's not enough to say the words; you have to make people on both sides of a conversation understand the message. That's true for writing as well.

And when I'm not making brands sound snazzy, I'm probably reading a book, looking after a foster cat, or planning my next trip.

Whew, that was a lot! The TL; DR: I help people (and businesses!) understand each other. I'd love to do that for your business, too.

Let's work together!
